lack of sleep

I woke up this morning at 6:53. That's almost two hours before I needed to wake up and almost earlier than I wake up for work during the week. This weekend has been a crappy weekend for sleep. I was up at 8 on Saturday morning.

I woke up freaking out. There were hundred of little plastic army men doing back flips in my stomach. Yes. today they were army men and this picture is exactly what they felt like in my stomach.

They were doing backflips as my mind was racing about everything going on at work, the meeting with the HR person, the possibly looking for another job, the getting a passport, the stuff going on with Papa, the possibly of looking for a place to live if I go through with getting a different job, this this and the that, and the freaking out about freaking out. I tend to do that a lot.
I'm hoping the plastic army men stay away tonight so I'm going to make myself a nice cup of lavender earl grey tea and relax before trying to get some shut eye.

Things that kept me going this week

I had a lousy week at work. I'm glad it's over.

GLEE came back this week. Yes, I was one of those people who waited for the show's return. I wasn't disappointed.

Having a dance party with friends to "Dancing Queen" on Wednesday night after things were especially bad at work. I don't know if it's possible to not dance around like a lunatic to this song.

Thursday night brought dinner with Caitlin. She was one of my best friends in middle and high school. We were practically inseperable. I don't remember the last time we talked aside from the occasional facebook message - let alone the last time we got together. We spent most of dinner catching each other up on the past and where we're planning on going next. I was surprised that we fell into the same easy friendship we used to have. Our goal: not wait 4+ years to get together again.

Freshman yr. of high school

I ended the week running into 2 of my favorite people at work and making dinner plans for next week. All in all, the work side of the week stunk but the rest was good.

Spring cleaning

Because who really likes to clean?

OK, I know that some people do. I’m not one of them. I’d rather do laundry, cut the grass, or even iron. I wait to clean until I can’t stand the mess. (Sidenote: Despite this, I’m one of those organizing freaks. I color code things at work. I have specific folders for everything. I like up the pencil/pen holder, paper clip holder, and inbox along the edge of my desk multiple times a day. I’m strange). But, I’m not that way at home. I’m one of those people who gets the urge to clean at midnight. My dad and aunt don’t really appreciate me clomping around my room at that hour cleaning and organizing. Plus, I need music to clean and they certainly don’t want me blasting music all hours of the night.

Cleaning my room has been an ongoing project for say the last four months or so. I’ve been out of school for 2 years next month (it seems long when I say that) and I still have boxes and boxes of books, knick knacks, and other college-y stuff. I lived in a townhouse with a fabulous group of girls my senior year of college and I bought (read dumpster dived for most) things to furnish my room and our house. I’ve been living at home since graduation and don’t need most of it. Until now.

I’m overhauling my room because the likelihood that I’ll be moving out in the near future is slim to none. My room has been the same since high school. My interests have changed drastically. Growing up, I was all about baseball – specifically the Cleveland Indians. While I still love my Indians, I no longer want my walls decorated with an Omar Vizquel cutout or the picture of me from 6th grade with former pitcher Charlie Nagy. I’ve had lyrics of “Power of the Dream” by Celine Dion (in a frame) hanging on my wall since my 6th grade birthday. I’m ready to take that down too. I took down the Omar Vizquel cutout in January when I began the overhaul. The rest are coming down today.

(a fun fabric I bought today to cover the top of a small set of drawers I use as a computer table)
Phase one of the overhaul included bringing in a huge bookshelf (that I have since filled) and another dresser with a mirror. Tonight, I’m determined to empty my 2 small bookshelves and start rearranging.

It’s coming along. I’ll include pictures of a finished room soon.

a little fun

I came across this quiz on a blog that I read. I am a great lover of shoes and own entirely too many. I spend the spring and summer months living in flip flops (and bare feet when there's no need for shoes). I suppose I am a bit of a walking contradiction because while I love shoes, I can't wait to kick them off and walk around bare foot. I actually wrote a poem in poetry class senior year about shoes. I'll have to find it and post it.

And, the results of the quiz. Pretty accurate if you ask me.
